Located across the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan, this landmark is hard to beat if you’re looking for steak and seafood in a gas-lit, Old-World setting. The oldest continuously operating restaurant in New York City still serves up such classics as pan-roasted oysters, sherry-laced lobster bisque and lobster Newburg, but you can also order such up-to-date dishes as filet mignon with shiitake mushrooms and grilled tuna. For dessert, there’s a popular apple crisp. Gage & Tollner’s mostly American wine list has some fairly priced selections.
