THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Gamekeeper Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Enter a separate door and climb the stairs to discover The Gamekeeper Restaurant. The seemingly independent restaurant is actually in the historic Owyhee Plaza Hotel, which was built in 1910. Patrons are welcomed with a mix of classic and contemporary styling: the small dining area is inviting and comfortable with rounded tables, leather and velour booths, and simple settings with white tablecloths and small lamps. The appetizer menu offers classics such as escargot bourguignonne, Brie en croûte, and calamari. Specialty steaks such as the spicy Madagascar pepper New York or tenderloin smothered in black and green peppercorns and brandy, and the thick rib-eye in a Jack Daniels mushroom sauce are flambéed, carved, and served tableside for added dining drama. Seafood lovers will find satisfying options ranging from Idaho’s own rainbow trout to Australian lobster tail. Most notable is the Gamekeeper Specialty menu featuring Rocky Mountain elk tenderloin medallions sautéed and presented on a wild blackberry demi-glace, and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. A wine list offers 80-plus labels with a topnotch Cabernet ready for a special celebration. Adjacent to the restaurant is a full-bar lounge showcasing several jazz ensembles and frequented on Wednesday nights by one of Boise’s most well-known writing salons.
