Garage Bar Restaurant Review:

It’s easy to find Garage Bar, since it’s the only restaurant in NuLu with a pair of cars crashing head-on into each other, albeit very slowly thanks to their in-ground conveyers. This art installation anchors the spacious corner lot patio dotted with seating and a popular ping-pong table. Inside, the long bar overlooking the main dining area is stocked with top-shelf liquor and excellent craft beers. Check the blackboard for rotating tap selections. Wines get short shrift in this establishment, but what’s there is eminently drinkable. Tonic is made in-house and a gin and tonic is the perfect accompaniment to oysters on the half shell. (Have a bourbon on the rocks with the country ham flight.) A wood-burning oven in the open kitchen produces thin-crust pizzas with seasonal topping (butternut squash, shaved Brussels sprouts, asparagus) as well as more traditional pies including one made with pepperoni. The amicable, youthful staff will try to talk you into frozen custard for dessert. Let them.
