Gigino is the nickname of chef Luigi Celantano, whose partners are Bob Giraldi and Phil Suarez (Jean-Georges, Vong, JoJo, Patria). This attractively rustic trattoria offers brick-oven pizzas, crisp and fine, notable pastas and other sophisticated spins on southern Italian dishes. Start with mixed mushrooms and onions sautéed with garlic, olive oil and parsley or the brick oven-roasted eggplant with tomato, basil and melted mozzarella before moving on to the rigatoni with veal and pork sausage in a light cream sauce. It’s ideal for a quick bite, business lunch or a romantic dinner.
