THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ginza Sushi-Ko Restaurant Review:
GINZA SUSHI-KO HAS CLOSED. LOOK FOR A NEW LOCATION (AND NEW NAME) OPENING IN NEW YORK IN NOVEMBER, 2003. With neighbors like Tiffany & Co, Louis Vuitton and other posh purveyors of luxe, Ginza Sushi-Ko is one of L.A.'s most exclusive restaurants. It is also the most expensive. Like restaurants in Tokyo, privacy is Ginza Sushi-Ko's cachet and that, plus the perfection of the sushi, is what attracts both customers like Madonna and Japanese executives. If you somehow manage to get in, a meal will cost you a samurai's ransom. The setting is aesthetically pure: just a polished wood sushi counter and a few tatami rooms. Since there's no menu, it is hard to tell exactly what owner-chef Masa Takayama is serving, but every slice of fish---shipped in daily from Tokyo---every dot of roe, every grain of rice is presented as artfully as can be.
