 Gitane, located on charming Claude Lane, is nothing if not sexy: a stylish after-work crowd gathers in the downstairs bar, decked out in lush, red-printed wallpaper, or heads upstairs to the exotic dining room, which employs huge chandeliers, dark hues and mirrors for a decidedly sultry atmosphere. On nice nights, outdoor tables are set out on Claude Lane, giving the restaurant the feel of a true European bistro. Chef Bridget Batson now leads the kitchen, taking inspiration from France and Spain. EntrĂ©es range from chicken and vegetable tajines to a Portuguese fish stew. To wash it all down, try a not-too-sugary sangrĂa, or one of the many sherry cocktails for which the restaurant has become known.
