Kudos and applause for one magnificent dog, as Gold Coast calls its pure-beef Vienna-boiled red hot. And magnificent it is, in the pure Chicago tradition. All the extras you'd expect are here, and then some: You can have your onions grilled or raw; and if you're from out of town, note the celery salt---it's a must topping for Francophiles from the city of the big shoulders. If the natural casing of the boiled version has a bit too much snap to it, opt for the char-broiled red hot instead; it's just as tasty. Fast food this may be, but it's fast food raised to new heights; everything is super fresh, and Gold Coast makes one of the best burgers in town, too. Chili dogs are quite good as well.
