THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Golden Cadillac Restaurant Review:
The 1970s is not really a decade foodies look back at with mouth-watering nostalgia. Fondue, meat-enveloped aspic, and variations on the theme of quiche were popular then. Which is why it is at first head-scratching that the owners of Golden Cadillac thought it a good idea to create a menu using the recipes from late-seventies Gourmet magazine. With a groovy seventies soundtrack on the hi-fi, diners can sip a Harvey Wallbanger or a Hot Buttery Nipple and munch on dishes like uni-spiked deviled eggs, tomato soup, steak Diane and, yes, even fondue. The menu standouts include a good burger, Monte Cristo minis (a duck, ham and Swiss fried sandwich), and hearty hunter’s stew. At weekend brunch, the chocolate chip pancakes are a must. The 1970s, it turns out, can be pretty good to the palate. And that’s something we can boogie to.
