Dining room at Good Stuff Eatery, Washington, DCIf you are a fan of TV’s Top Chef, you probably know all about its alum, Spike Mendelsohn, a twenty-something who made it through several episodes on the show. But you may not realize he opened this bustling eatery, where hungry Hill staffers and locals crowd in for the overstuffed burgers and hand-cut fries. Toppings include almost everything edible, and even vegetarians are not left out in the cold---they can pick up a portobello half topped with cheese and breadcrumbs and tomatoes. Afraid of calories? Order a salad, one of six different iceberg wedges in various guises. But save some of your appetite for the maxed-out milkshakes, big, frosty servings such as toasted marshmallow, Milky Way Malt, and Soursop Hop Strawberry.

Good Stuff Eatery = a tasty and reasonably priced burger. In a city where your typical lunch would set you back over $10 (drink not included), this is a great bang-for-your-buck lunch choice.
