Goodstone Inn & Estate Restaurant Review: Perhaps one of Northern Virginia’s most elegant destinations, and easily preparing some of its very best meals, the Goodstone Inn in Middleburg solves several major dining dilemmas: where to eat a farm-fresh meal for one and how to do that and have the meal rise to epicurean heights for another. Thanks to the dedicated chef who is as much gardener-farmer as cook, meals here transcend the run-of-the-mill. While there’s no set menu---the chef makes it up depending on what the garden sprouts that morning---you may hope to find a delicate tender-greens salad, hand-made gnocchi with morel mushrooms, tenderloin of pork (all meats are locally sourced) served with parsnips and spinach, and the pastry chef’s delicate puff pastry with fresh strawberries and vanilla custard. Of course, the well-stocked wine cellar affords elegant pairings, but why not go for broke and accompany your meal with a fine Champagne? How about a glass of Krug?
