Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Restaurant Review: This Chattanooga-based brewpub chain has changed its Rock Bottom brand to a second Gordon Biersch in Atlanta. Dishes range from brick-oven pizzas made with hand-tossed house-crafted dough to shrimp and chicken dumplings with Asian barbecue sauce---plenty for two or three to share as there are a half dozen of these plump pillows on the plate. We suggest the Kobe sliders, although the regular burgers may be the best thing on the menu. Steaks and seafood abound for heftier dining. The beers brewed on site are quite good, especially the Czech Pilsner with its slight bitter aftertaste. The Märtzen, though, is very good, too, with its amber color and layers of flavor. Unless you specify a quarter liter, you'll get a half liter (or pint). Of the desserts, the chocolate peanut butter pie is the standout. Don't expect much from the wine list; this is a beer outfit, after all. Check out the happy hour deals; these are real bargains at GB. |
