This chain of upscale, yuppie brewpub restaurants has coast-to-coast branches. This is one of the largest outlets, a good singles spot for young business folk, with tourists adding to the seasoning of the fun crowd. The expansive open kitchen and glass-enclosed brewery enhance the ambience of the sparkling warehouse-like eatery. For starters, we like the artichoke-crab dip in a sourdough bread bowl and the blackened ahi with Cajun rémoulade. Signature pizzas are popular to share, with combinations such as barbecued, hand-pulled chicken or the classic crowd-pleaser of pepperoni and mushrooms. Ten-ounce burgers work well with the selection of hand-crafted beers and signature garlic fries. Among entrées, creative classics such as the halibut Oscar with lump crab topped with fresh asparagus and béarnaise sauce are interesting, but comfort dishes such as beer battered fish ‘n’ chips or meatloaf made with both beef and Italian sausage are winners, too. Save room for the apple bread pudding with pecans, vanilla ice cream and sticky bun caramel sauce. The extensive list of wines, beers, margaritas, martinis and specialty cocktails also offers an alcohol-free no-jito (fresh mint, soda water and fresh-squeezed lime juice).
