| Following the success of its original Palo Alto location, this Bay-side microbrewery and yuppeteria has branched out all over. Guys and dolls continue to make the singles scene at the bar and frequent the restaurant as well. The hearty, spicy pub fare is designed to stand up to Biersch's five German-style lagers, and it isn't bad: mostly finger food such as satays, pizzas, sandwiches and good burgers, including one served with Marzen (one of its signature beers) barbecue sauce. Bigger appetites will be satisfied by dishes such as the New York strip steak while a selection of pastas and stir-fries add variety to the menu. The noise level can be deafening, but for Gordon Biersch's habitués, that's part of the attraction. Also located at 640 Emerson St., Palo Alto, 650-323-7723; and 2 Harrison St., San Francisco, 415-243-8246. |
