Gott Gourmet Cafe stands out among the restaurants on Magazine Street because of the diversity of its offerings. While there are some notable salads (try the curried chicken with cashews) and a few typical New Orleans sandwiches --- muffaletta, oyster or shrimp po’ boy --- it's the "Groovy Gourmet" section of the menu that merits special attention. That’s where you’ll find the original Chicago-style hot dog and the five-cheese mac 'n' cheese. The slow-braised pulled pork wrap is also worth a try, especially because of the chipotle cream cheese and ancho-honey slaw. Desserts are only featured as specials on some days, but if your timing is good, you will encounter fried apple pie with bacon caramel topping. Wine selections are limited, but the cocktails are fun --- we like the blueberry mimosa.
