Goumard Restaurant Review:

Philippe Dubois and his partner Dominique Bellugeon have renovated this restaurant with an updated décor, menu and chef. Julien Hage, who worked as a second to Olivier Guyot, is now running the kitchen of this venerable house, Prunier, founded in 1872. On the first floor, guests can enjoy an oyster bar at the communal table or nibble on a club sandwich, the plat du jour or a plate of fine charcuterie from the Basque country. On the second floor, the décor remains plush with Lalique and Majorelle works hung throughout. The establishment is equipped with a highly coveted smoking room. For quite reasonable prices, diners can choose from a selection of appetizers prepared with impeccably fresh produce. Among the favorites are rocky fish and shellfish soup, croûtons and rouille, fine meat of hermit crab, chanterelle juice and a salad of fresh herbs, or the whole sole meunière, steamed small potatoes and Italian parsley. For the meat lover, there is much that will please the palate like Bourguignon braised cheek of beef or a wild boar Shepherd’s pie served with a green salad.
