The Grand Oak Steakhouse & Bar Restaurant Review

: This ranch-style steakhouse is located in an historic, laid-back resort far from civilization (long ago a retreat for Hollywood celebrities), likely a considerable drive from wherever you live. But the charm of the place, perhaps more than the food itself, may be worth the trip. Beamed ceilings, vintage photos, tack gear and white linen suggest a different era or state, and a homey bar serves as a burger-specializing bistro for lunch. Because the restaurant is surrounded by acres of farmland, organic produce is rotated seasonally by chef Stefan Weck into starters like watermelon-heirloom tomato salad or gazpacho. Diners move on to nicely grilled rib-eyes or a 32-ounce côte de boeuf for two. Chicken, lamb, pastas and seafood are available as well, and a platter of miniature desserts includes crème brûlée, shortcake and cheesecake. This grand but unpretentious dining room seems particularly well suited for Sunday brunch, as egg dishes share the menu with steak frites and shepherd’s pie --- perfect after a long ride from the city.
