Great Wine List* Click here for rating key
Chef Jeff Heineman, owner of Bethesda's only wine bistro, has chalked up a sure winner with this tidy, bright, cheerful tapas/full-meal restaurant. About the size of a handkerchief, Grapeseed offers a unique twist: Many of Heineman's dishes have been inspired by a specific wine. If you order a tapas chimichurri roasted mussels, he'll suggest sipping the complementary Bonny Doon Le Cigare Volant; on the other hand, if you select a dinner entrée of breast of turkey stuffed with Fontina, almonds and olives, he'd want you to pair that with a Mission Saint Vincent Bordeaux from France. Many of the dishes are inventive and offbeat, such as the white grape gazpacho once offered; others are too tricky to work right, such as the bland mango chiffon pie. But you'll never be bored eating and drinking here.
