| You won’t find grandma’s homemade meatballs at Grappolo Locanda. But this trattoria will satisfy your craving for virtually anything else with its eclectic Italian menu that features pastas, seafood and meats prepared in traditional and not so traditional style. Begin with the gamberoni al Gorgonzola, shrimp sautéed in brandy with Gorgonzola, or the timballo di zucchini, roasted zucchini and Italian peppers with fresh mozzarella. These are good precursors to the marinated New Zealand lamb chops or grilled pancetta-wrapped filet mignon with caramelized onions. Al dente orecchiette with fennel sausage is first-rate, and pillowy gnocchi is served in a hearty free-range chicken ragù topped with pecorino romano. Save room for the two taut bundles of phyllo-encrusted bittersweet chocolate plated next to a scoop of homemade vanilla bean gelato. Owner Tom Cuomo rewards his loyal customers with a pour of his grandmother's tart and sweet limoncello, a satisfying end to a meal. |
