Spacious and noisy, the bistro is decked out in warm hardwood floors, mesquite tables and a sprawling chalkboard wine list packed with global choices. Sit down to fresh crusty sourdough bread from owner Scott Tycer's Kraftsmen Baking and dip into the extra-virgin olive oil and ducas seeds (a mix of almonds and sunflower and poppy seeds). The seasonal American menu, including dynamite salads like the hot sautéed shrimp sided with a heap of greens, and a meaty yellow and purple beet number atop arugula, baby spinach and fried onion strings, dazzles. A plump roasted chicken breast boasts crackly golden skin and comes with fried cornbread and caramelized shallots. For beef, there's the trendy and affordable steak frites with a pile of dewy roasted mushrooms; or you might find a braised beef bourguignon with potato purée and asparagus as a special.
