THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Great Eastern Dining Room Restaurant Review: Studiedly brown, dimly lit and acoustically challenging, Great Eastern Dining Room is aggressively fashionable with its chocolate leather, 1970s-Sputnik chandelier and dark-wood cladding. Through a spacious bar, the restaurant gets packed thanks to its cutting-edge Shoreditch location and good cooking---Pan-Asian with a Japanese focus. The kitchen delivers modish food: dim sum of miso roasted pumpkin gyoza and chili salt squid, salads, tempura, sashimi, curries, and roasts like Korean barbecue chicken. The good news is that all are within the price range of most diners.
