THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Great Queen Street Restaurant Review:
The interior is simple: wood floored with wooden tables, high-backed settees and chairs and decorated with dark colors. But you’re not here for the décor; instead, expect good honest cooking that champions British ingredients. You get what it says on the menu without frills: wood pigeon with peas and bacon, whole lemon sole with leeks and brown shrimps. Pies with short-crust pastry topping, once broken into, reveal rich smells and tastes; quintessentially English fruits like gooseberries and rhubarb are used in season. Service can be rushed when the place is heaving, but you excuse the odd lapse in such a welcoming, genuine venue.
