Green Leaf Vietnamese Restaurant Restaurant Review: The lines at Green Leaf Vietnamese Restaurant’s original International District spot spurred the opening of this second outpost, located in the basement of the historic Labor Temple. One must walk down steps to enter into a delightfully dim, cavernous space, fancier than most Vietnamese places. Unlike its smaller sibling this upscale version has a water feature and a 50s-style bamboo bar and lounge that serves libations into the wee hours. Fresh with bright flavors and quality ingredients, the menu includes starters such as salad rolls filled with shrimp and pork, and Vietnamese-style pancakes made of crispy rice flour with a touch of coconut, filled with pork, shrimp and crunchy bean sprouts. Other favorites: pho, cabbage salad with duck and the vermicelli bowls. Finish with the grilled banana cake swimming in a pool of coconut milk. Service is warm and professional, and the full bar offers libations for everyone.
