Grill 225 Restaurant Review:

Facing the historic United States Custom House with a granite façade of its own, this restaurant in the lobby of the Market Pavilion Hotel offers steakhouse classics in an atmosphere of tasteful opulence. Chef Demetre Castanas sets an upscale tone with appetizers such as a tower of tuna tartare and lump crab, and a selection of caviar served with traditional garnishes and crème fraîche. Entrées offer standards such as a selection of pork and veal chops. Seafood choices give a nod to the South with an elevated shrimp and grits. Whole Maine lobster is removed from the shell and presented tableside. Prime filet mignon is served with foie gras, truffled béarnaise sauce, and fig demi-glace. Desserts not to be missed are the banana bread pudding topped with caramel ice cream and warm caramel sauce, and a walnut baklava purse with cinnamon ice cream and local honey. Another must-have: the Nitrotini --- an exotic martini that arrives super-chilled in a cloud of liquid nitrogen. The wine list is devoted to Napa and other California red wines and to French reds, although there are scatterings of other regions sampled as well. White wine enthusiasts will find plenty of fine offerings, although do remember this is a steakhouse. One of the best views in town may be enjoyed from the rooftop bar.
