THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Grill at Brown's Hotel Restaurant Review: The Grill is a London favourite with a certain moneyed clientele who enjoy their comforts in style. The large room is dominated by a fireplace and has comfortable dark green chairs and wood paneling. It’s all very elegant and a place where the more conservative establishment feels at home. The cooking has been smartened up over the last year and now shows off the top ingredients that the kitchen utilizes to real advantage. If you want to taste a British dish with a long and venerable history, order the potted Morecambe Bay shrimps with mace and lemon, or go dangerously European with foie gras with confit tomatoes and black pepper caramel. Mains include Atlantic brill with spinach, celery and grape velouté and tournedos of beef with fondant potato and Périgourd sauce. There are dishes of the day like fish cakes on Monday and steak and kidney pie on Tuesday for the staunchly patriotic. The wine list varies generously in origin and price, but this is expense account territory. Set 2-course lunch £25, 3 courses £30.
