Grille 66 & Bar Restaurant Review: This handsome restaurant in the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six is a big regional draw. Striking views of the harbor, which seems to practically breed yachts as you watch, are just one reason for the return of affection to this Fort Lauderdale classic venue. One side of the menu offers traditional steakhouse cuts of Prime beef (aged 28 days) plus hefty pork and lamb chops, along with predictable à la carte sides, both classic and more modern: Lyonnaise potatoes or sweet potato fries; a nicely-blended creamed spinach; or spinach with garlic and olive oil. The other side offers the chefs' daily specials, more creative efforts centering on high quality though not predominantly regional seafood, plus Italian-inspired veal, pork, chicken and pasta dishes. Preparations can sometimes overwhelm the ingredients, so we prefer sticking to simpler dishes. Ever-changing desserts usually include a flavor of cheesecake and a type of seasonal fruit crisp. The comprehensive, well-priced wine list is voluminous, but full descriptions assure that choosing won't be confusing.
