The Grilled Cheese Truck Restaurant Review: Next to Kogi, this may be LA’s most famous roving food truck, its unmistakable cheery orange form staying well in tune with the new century’s grilled cheese zeitgeist. Patrons like the signature sandwich, Cheesy Mac and Rib, which pairs a sharp cheddar mac ‘n’ cheese melted together with barbecue pork and caramelized onions inside toasty bread. To our taste, it seems too heavy and slightly redundant---do we really need carbs inside carbs? We prefer the fresher and more creative Harvest Melt made with butternut squash, sautéed leeks, balsamic and agave syrup, or the Brie Melt on cranberry walnut bread with sliced pears and honey. The old school lone cheese variety is also on call, and sweet cravings can be indulged with a dessert melt of roasted banana purée, Nutella and marshmallow. |
