THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Guru Restaurant Review:
Peripatetic proprietor Albert Paris, a welcome fixture in Old City with his Rococo and Oberon restaurants, now brings us this hip, handsome spot serving Pan-Asian Comfort Food in techno-Asian surroundings. The moon gate leads to an attractive bar serving exotic cocktails and seven brands of sake, among other libations; its already a hangout for the hip, young crowd who cruise South Street. A raw bar, appetizers ranging from New Delhi quesadillas to east/west oysters on the half shell, and entrées such as Guru-plum spare ribs and crispy Chinese duck confit, make this a perfect spot for light snacking, or a full meal of mixing and matching. Theres something for everyone, even a vegetarian falafel sandwich, and an unctuous coffee crème caramel for dessert.
