 Gyu-Kaku Restaurant Review: Japanese barbecue cooking, called yakinku, is a rare find in OC. Gyu-Kaku is unique with its do-it-yourself marinades and circular charcoal braziers (smokeless grills) for your choice of meats, chicken, seafood and vegetables. We enjoy the Chilean sea bass, garlic shrimp, ahi, aged boneless Black Angus short rib and sliced skirt steak. There are also specialty cuts of gyu tan (tongue), liver and intestine. At meal’s end, try the Surf City-inspired s’mores to grill or other traditional Japanese desserts, like pancakes with sweet red bean paste, black sesame ice cream or grilled mochi with a Japanese-style syrup. Take advantage of the free long-term parking in the structure just behind the restaurant. |
