Hama Sushi, Los Angeles, CA

Hama Sushi Restaurant Review

: Hama Sushi is a no-frills (but high-quality) sushi spot well situated in the heart of Little Tokyo in Los Angeles. It's a longtime locals' favorite and despite a change in ownership, the quality has remained the same. The majority of the seating is around three sides of the sushi bar, but there are also a couple tables in the adjacent room. There are a few things to know before you go: reservations are not accepted, everything is à la carte (no omakase) and cell phone usage is frowned upon at the sushi bar. Expect a traditional menu of sushi and sashimi, along with hand rolls and a few cooked items like fish collar. A standout offering is the sweet shrimp. It's served as nigiri, followed by the deep-fried shrimp heads to be devoured in one delectable bite. Also, be sure to check the whiteboards on the walls for daily specials like monkfish liver or green mussels. Complement your meal with beer or saké.
