Hamptons Restaurant Review

:
About the restaurant & décor: Located at Tivoli Village, Hamptons is a two-level space featuring a relaxed ambience, industrial-chic design and vintage touches. The interior has a hardwood floor, comfortable padded booths and chairs in tones of dark tan and brown, large windows allowing ample natural lighting and hanging chandeliers, and there’s a spacious outdoor patio for al fresco dining.

Likes: Twice daily happy hour from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close brings a selection of $4 drafts, $5 glasses of wine and cocktails, $5 off specialties and $2 off select starters, salads, soups and sandwiches.
Dislikes: The 34-day aged tomahawk rib-eye comes with a hefty $120 price tag, but at 40 oz. is enough to feed at least two, and otherwise the menu offers a range of prices to fit just about anyone’s budget.

Food & Drinks: From chef Jay Bogsinske, good beginnings are the preserved lemon hummus with cucumber, tomato, olives and pickled vegetables; avocado fries with house-made smoked tomato ketchup; and yellowfin tuna poke (sushi-grade ahi, soy sesame ponzu sauce and chipotle lime crema). Signature sandwiches include the Little Havana Cubano highlighting Duroc pork loin, country ham, applewood smoked bacon, five-spiced pineapple and Gruyère. Specialties standouts are the Mary’s free-range chicken with Pitman Family Farms breast, heirloom cherry tomatoes, and asparagus and Parmesan risotto; Wild Isles salmon mignon with sweet pea sauce; and a 12-oz. aged NY strip served with chive potato purée and au poivre and béarnaise sauces. In addition to 50 wines and 32 whiskies and Scotches, crafted cocktails are available, such as the South Hamptons Smash with bourbon, mint, lemon and maple simple syrup. A Bananas Foster Split comprising bruléed bananas, salted caramel, blueberries, bourbon whipped cream and vanilla bean ice cream is among the sweet endings.
