THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hanaro Mart Restaurant Review:
It feels a bit like a treasure hunt to find the restaurant tucked away at the rear of Hanaro Mart, a Korean-Asian market itself not distinguished by excessive advertising. There's no indication of the restaurant's existence on the market's exterior, and it takes perseverance to find it once you're inside. Persevere. From the menu written on strips of paper taped to the wall, the kimchi dumplings alone are worth the effort. A sturdy Korean pancake, designed for dunking in the universal soy-based sauce, may occasionally be available. Then go on to fried dumplings stuffed with ground pork, cold wheat noodles with sliced pear and boiled egg, or the enigmatically labeled Sundae Soup---more likely taking its name from the day of the week it's typically made rather than from a frozen treat---featuring an intriguing Korean sausage stuffed with rice, sweet potato noodles and pork in a piquant broth with brisket, bits of tripe and greens.
