This quintessentially California locavore haven would fit easily into Big Sur or Berkeley, but is equally at home in small-town Pacific Grove. In addition to serving breakfast and lunch, this quirky locals’ favorite across from a Bikram yoga studio and doggie day care deals equally in homegrown canned goods, fermentation education and community happenings. Music is from vinyl records, and shelves of house-made pickles, preserves, sea salt, honey and freshly-jarred vegetables tempt the hungry. They’ve got kombucha on tap, too. The soups are good for the soul and the sandwiches are freshly made. At breakfast, we feast on the scones served up with old-fashioned preserves. Order the pickle platter to sample the company’s canning wares, or sign up for canning classes or community dinners with other local food purveyors and entertainers for unique dining experiences.
