THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Harry's West Restaurant Review

: Another restaurant that opened with a bang some years ago, Harry's has held onto its power base of the Beautiful People's St. Louis chapter and the visible Big Shots. The West County satellite has done little to change that, though it's somewhat less intense (read: loud and crowded). The contemporary interior overlooks the swooping fairway of a golf course. All very nice, of course, but the food? Surprisingly good, thanks. It is imaginatively prepared and presented, if slightly on the tall side, and definitely in the St. Louis tradition of very large portions. Favorites include dishes like a duck ragout over creamy polenta, a shrimp salad whose sweet-hot-toasted sesame dressing bounces through the taste buds and a particularly impressive veal liver and onions, with a hint of vinegar becoming a flavor booster. Brunch, served buffet style, is available only at the west location, offering mostly breakfast items like tender blintzes, properly cooked eggs Benedict, hot and fresh pancakes and killer potatoes.
