Haven Restaurant Review

: This aptly named, elegant-yet-comfortable outpost is owned by chef Daniel Patterson. Dark, stark, semi-industrial design elements and a wide waterfront view frame flavorful culinary artworks prepared in a copious open kitchen. Flanking it is a full bar, birthplace of classic and innovative cocktails augmenting an extensive wine selection. Executive chef Matt Brimer presents family-style meals that change nightly (three courses Sun.-Thurs., four courses Fri.-Sat.). Elegant tidbits such as burrata with fennel confit and chicken liver mousse with cracklings and persimmon are served with assorted warm breads, followed by bite-size crab fritters and a winter salad marrying pomegranate, sunflower and mint. Entrée choices might include roast Berkshire pork loin or line-caught halibut, both accompanied by braised chard with farro verde, harissa and sultana raisins. A palate cleansing scoop of celery sorbet, and an artfully deconstructed olive oil cake with chocolate sable, navel orange marmalade and chicory ice cream served with French-press pot coffee punctuate the end of a lovely meal. The bar offers à la carte offerings such as house-made pastas and a signature burger.
