Heirloom Farmhouse Kitchen Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: Like the flagship dining venues in the Marriott’s other Orange County properties, there are no real boundaries between the restaurant and the lobby, yet it’s easy to spot when you’ve arrived. Look for the sleek yet slightly rustic open dining area and the sizeable rectangular bar, where bar manager Ravin Buzzell oversees the creation of some of OC’s most exceptional cocktails. We suggest starting off with a libation as you peruse the compact menu.

Likes: Creative cocktails.
Dislikes: No separation between hotel and restaurant.

Food & Drinks: The farm-to-table milieu has indeed arrived at the hotel level, but don’t be alarmed. Instead, prepare for an honest, straightforward expression of the oft-hyped concept, one that walks the fine line between a hotel restaurant and a restaurant within a hotel rather well. Begin with a board of cheese, charcuterie and house-made pâtés before diving into the fondue-like cauliflower mac-n-cheese or the decadent short rib gnocchi. For mains, we recommend the appropriately portioned skirt steak, which is accompanied by mashed potatoes and blistered, locally grown fava beans. Save room for the chocolate and banana bread pudding. The wine list is small with several solid selections. At meal’s end, head upstairs and enjoy a nightcap at the hotel’s rooftop bar, Hive & Honey.
