Don't expect ordinary buttermilk pancakes and scrambled eggs at this hotspot in downtown Minneapolis. Instead, chef-owner Mitch Omer’s from-scratch cooking includes everything from homemade marmalade and berry preserves to hot chocolate made the old-fashioned way and peanut butter prepared with peanuts you can smell roasting in the kitchen. The space is even decorated to match its hellacious theme---blood-red accents and a few fake buzzards hanging around. Servers are outgoing and fun (they get to wear pjs on the weekends). Although the place serves lunch too, the truth is breakfast remains our favorite time to eat here. Our go-to dish has to be the lemon-ricotta pancakes, which are pure breakfast bliss---although the gooey caramel-pecan rolls rate right up there. Or wait, what about that loaded-with-crab crab cake topped with a poached egg and smoothed over with the red bell pepper hollandaise? What else can we say? We just like this place a lot.
