THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Henan Flavor Restaurant Review:
This diminutive restaurant, hidden in the back streets of Chinatown, is worth the wander to find. As the name suggests, the eatery serves up the cuisine of Henan, a region in China that’s not very well represented on the city’s culinary landscape. That means for the hungry diner, a whole menu of unfamiliar (and very affordable) dishes. Start with the “pancake with pork,” spicy ground pork between a crispy bun, which is really a burger, and a good one at that. Then move on to one of the varieties of hand-pulled noodle dishes --- the spicy beef brisket is particularly satisfying on a cold day. The only disappointments are the soup dumplings, which lacked the flavor found elsewhere in the neighborhood.
