Henninger's Tavern Restaurant Review:

Henninger’s is the opposite of a “flavor of the month” restaurant. It’s been around for decades, offering predictably first-rate, three-olive martinis in the comfortable bar up front, and surprisingly fine dining in the atmospheric dining room. Surprising, because this does not look like a fine dining sort of place. Agreeably funky in the traditional Fells Point mode, with a whole flea market’s worth of miscellanea decorating the walls, the former speakeasy looks made for pub grub and sea shanties. What diners will find, though, is such soigné fare as broiled whole fish with cilantro-lime pesto, Cornish hen with Gruyère and leek bread pudding, and one of the city’s best crab cakes, lavished with luscious basil aïoli. Desserts are impressive; Chocolate Oblivion or a simple pistachio gelato all cater to that after dinner sweet tooth. Because of its longevity and consistency, Henninger’s is often taken for granted, but it deserves a fresh look.
