THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hermitage Inn Restaurant Review:

Chef-owner Serge Barbe runs a pretty historic inn in the town of Clifton, as yet fairly untouched by the developers' shovel. May the town remain in this pristine state, with the inn as its focal point. Always a destination for a celebratory meal, the Hermitage Inn exudes both charm and history; on the site of the former Clifton Hotel, it was once the destination of some of America's VIPs, including Teddy Roosevelt. The menu runs to American cooking tinged with Mediterranean-French accents and dishes are always lavish. Consider a menu that stars escargots; a Mediterranean beggar's purse filled with pesto, sun-dried tomatoes and caramelized onions; pan-seared garlic prawns; and for the main course grilled New Zealand lamb with a pistachio crust. Lamb of any kind here is one of the kitchen's best efforts, so splurge, saving room for a dessert of chocolate terrine. Brunches are good, too.
