Highland Creole Cuisine Restaurant Review: Highland Creole Cuisine, straddling the last corner on Somerville's Highland Avenue, is an awkward yet authentic outpost of Creole and Haitian-inspired cooking. The design scheme looks like a suburban Chinese restaurant circa 1982: faded pink tablecloths, flickering torchieres, plastic-covered tables. Guests don’t seem to mind, though, as they dine on the unusual fried goat or the conch swimming in a smoky, unctuous brown sauce. Every dish comes with rice and beans, fried plantains and a green salad. Pig stew, fried Creole fish and fruity shakes are also menu standouts. |
