Highland Creole Cuisine Restaurant Review:

Straddling the last corner on Somerville's Highland Avenue, Highland Creole Cuisine is an authentic outpost of Creole and Haitian-inspired cooking. The design scheme, with faded pink tablecloths and flickering torchieres, is less than inspiring, but guests don’t seem to mind. They know they are in for braised Creole goat or the conch swimming in a smoky, unctuous brown sauce. Every dish comes with rice and beans, fried plantains and a small iceberg lettuce green salad. The fried fish in a tasty Creole sauce and beef stew loaded with vegetables are other popular options. Pig stew, fried Creole shrimp and fruity shakes are also menu standouts.
