Hillstone Restaurant Review: The Santa Monica location of Houston’s has been renamed Hillstone, which is another brand under the same corporate umbrella that also includes Bandera and Gulfstream. The menu is essentially the same as Houston’s, featuring reliable burgers, crab cakes and undeniably good barbecued ribs. After starting with a sushi roll, you can move on to entrées like wood-roasted chicken, a seasonal vegetable plate or Hawaiian rib-eye. Finish with apple-walnut cobbler or a warm brownie and complement your meal with a selection from a decent, primarily California wine list, which offers a number of by-the-glass options. |
