Hoi An
Southeast Asian cuisine with French influences in the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.
Hoi An Restaurant Review:
Chef Nguyen Trong Phu, a native of Vietnam, prepares classic Southeast Asian cuisine with French influences at Hoi An in the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai. The restaurant is located on the first level of the hotel and features modern décor with warm orange walls and turquoise window shutters. Dim lighting, pink lotus lamps and Asian-style ceiling fans make this a uniquely Vietnamese dining experience. The tasting menu highlights some of the chef’s best dishes. Traditional pho comes highly recommended as one of the most authentic in Dubai. Guests should be on the lookout for themed dining specials that change each month. Past themes have included Vietnamese Street Food Festival, Vietnamese Hot Pot and Leaf of Life: Delightful Green Tea Dishes, which offered dishes such as pan-seared scallops and foie gras with mangoes and jasmine tea sauce, and wok-seared tuna with capsicum pepper and onion with green tea gravy. For dessert, chilled mango soup with coconut milk and coconut ice cream brings a fine finishing touch to a meal. Staff is well trained.
