Families gather in this classic Southern restaurant, festooned with sport fish and hunting trophies on the walls. After you order, dig into a basket of hot made-from-scratch hush puppies, the fried cornmeal balls that traditionally accompany Southern seafood in Georgia. Deep-fried oysters are meticulously done, sweet and crunchy. Deep-fried shrimp and catfish are similarly fresh and first-rate. Tartar and cocktail sauces are made in-house. For dessert, the seasonal strawberry shortcake is a huge pile of freshly made cake and beautiful fruit, and the portion is plenty for two. Vegetables are good, even if sometimes the staff confuses collard greens and turnip greens. Skip the too-salty fried pickles, although they’re nicely crisp and tangy. The dinner seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday brings out the crowd; it includes crab legs. A lunch buffet option is available Tuesday-Friday. This is no-frills dining of the highest quality.
