Hon's Wun-Tun House Restaurant Review

: The Keefer Street location of Hon's is the only branch still owned and operated by the Ip family. The décor of the original Hon's Chinatown spot, which opened in 1972, has been updated, but the line-ups, noise, rock bottom prices, and traditional menu remain reassuringly the same with soups a major draw. Choose among 90-odd soup varieties ranging from basic won ton, pigs’ feet, and fish ball to the comforts of several versions of congee (rice porridge). Equally noteworthy are the trademark plump pot stickers --- fried or steamed --- served with a zesty ginger-spiked dipping sauce. Desserts are modest but nicely done. Try the sweetened red bean soup or the freshly ground black sesame cream for a change of pace. There is a simple beer and wine list plus tea, soda and juice. If sitting down to eat isn't an option, there is also delivery, take-out, and a full line of frozen dim sum.
