Honu Kitchen & Cocktails Restaurant Review: Honu Kitchen & Cocktails attempts to combine fine dining and a casual bar. The extensive drink offerings include the signature coconut martini and watermelon mojito, as well as a California-heavy wine list with several international selections. The menu, which changes seasonally, is divided up by small and large plates. Each section has some passable items, but more times than not, the dishes fail to please the palate. Attempts are made to include fusion details from Latin America and Asia, though many are uninspired. Sticking to small plates and sides is a better idea, where options like ahi tuna tartare, fig and goat cheese flatbread, toasted gnocchi with wild mushrooms and truffle oil, and pumpkin ravioli are sure to please. There's a gluten-free menu, too. Of note are the tender pecan pork with sweet potato hash and the marinated shrimp with chimichurri sauce. Prices are steep, and with abundant options in the area, neither the food nor the crowded bar make Honu stand out.
