Horsefeathers Restaurant Review: The “drink your meal” mentality associated with most pubs doesn’t apply at this Tarrytown establishment, with its décor bearing more than a few artifacts in homage to the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the headless horseman. Any appetite can find satisfaction with the eclectic menu. The turkey burger is juicy and tender --- sworn red meat-lovers will do a double-take. Steaks arrive sizzling and alongside sweet potato french fries; this dish stands up against those offered at more upscale restaurants in the area. Diversity is the key with pastas like the Stonington scallops, penne, tomato, basil and garlic, and the farfalle with bacon, onion, peas and cream. Even salads are a departure from the norm, such as a Niçoise, Cobb and grilled shrimp. Delicate seafood preparations range from broiled stuffed flounder with Maryland blue crab to a spicy Cajun-style catfish with baked sweet potato or sweet potato fries. Desserts include strawberry shortcake and the Magic Mountain with vanilla ice cream, walnut and coconut cookie, drizzled with hot chocolate syrup and topped with whipped cream. Hundreds of beers by the bottle are available, with several from local microbreweries, along with wine and martinis.
