THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES House of Blues Restaurant Review:
Part of the House of Blues complex which includes a music hall and private dining club, this venue offers theatrical roadhouse décor but a high-end chain restaurant menu. The emphasis is on Southern food, mostly Cajun and Creole, but there’s a smattering of American favorites such as burgers, steaks and fish ‘n’ chips. For the price point, the servings are generous and competently if not authentically cooked; we recommend the fried buttermilk-battered chicken breast with ham country gravy and mashed potatoes. Amidst all the heavy hitters, there’s also some decent healthful fare such as the whole-wheat tortilla wrap with roasted vegetables, fresh mozzarella cheese and a pasta salad. The wine list is limited but the bar is busy with orders for specialty cocktails and beer. Desserts are of the gooey variety (think cappuccino brownie with vanilla ice cream and candied pecans) and totally satisfying, but you may hate yourself for eating the whole thing. If you’re looking for an early snack or a late dinner that won’t break the bank in this glitzy high roller town, this might be just the place.
