| House of Blues, a showcase for national touring music acts, at this location operates a full service restaurant that is well insulated from the performance space. Legendary local eats such as jambalaya, po' boys and gumbo get the respect they deserve from the kitchen, although the frying technique needs work. A standout on the menu is the rack of basted, barbecued baby-back ribs. Ditto the pork chops, served with sweet potato fries and fresh, properly cooked and seasoned greens. If you like bread pudding, this belt-buster---with banana and white chocolate---is likely to become addictive. On a balmy day or night, the place to sample all this is the big, bustling courtyard of the Voodoo Lounge, flanked with booths and fronted with a bar that never seems to stop rocking. |
