| This Teele Square eatery gave greater Boston its first taste of Tibetan cuisine. Not much has changed since it opened. The dining room is den-like in its coziness: Incense burns near the register; historic oil paintings hang on the walls. The owner prepares everything herself and the food can best be described as something an Asian grandma might put on the table---heavy on the peppers, beef and potatoes. Highly informed by hearty mountain cooking and the spices of India (many Tibetans are exiled there), typical dishes include cracked wheat soup with ginger, garlic and coriander and chicken stir-fried with chilies, tomato and scallions. Don't miss the ubiquitous Tibetan dumplings or momos---pungent, meat-filled, intriguingly chewy pockets. |
