February 11 If you’ve ever wanted to enjoy the same meal that was the last one served in the first class dining room aboard the Titanic, here’s your chance. The American Culinary Federation, Texas Chefs Association Houston Chapter, will be hosting its Fiftieth Chef’s Ball on Saturday, February 11. The gala will include cocktails and live entertainment as well as the same seven-course meal served on R.M.S. Titanic the night it sunk on its maiden voyage. The dinner includes oyster a la russe, poached salmon, filet de boeuf lili and a seven-layer cake. Tickets to the event are $100. For reservations, call executive chef Lester Binnick at 832-428-3209.
Ongoing Feast is open for lunch Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and offers specials that include two- and three-course meals for under $20. Ongoing The prime grade burger that Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in River Oaks launched this summer has been so successful that executive chef James Cole has created an entire menu devoted to burgers. Burger fans can feast on sliced filet mignon with sautéed mushrooms and béarnaise sauce on a bun as well as the prime beef burger. Non-beefeaters can also join the burger fest with a jumbo lump crab cake burger, an ahi tuna burger and even the portobello burger with sautéed spinach and creamy goat cheese. Tuesday through Saturday The beloved Brennan’s of Houston has brought back its Kitchen Table, a popular 12-seat table that looks directly into the kitchen where chef Danny Trace and crew work their culinary magic. The table is available for dinner from 5:45 to 10 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday (excluding holidays). To make reservations, call the restaurant at 713-522-9711.
